We are pleased to announce a weekly Open Water training session for the summer of 2019. These sessions will start from July.
Day: Every Wednesday *
19.00 - 19.45: Confidence/technique session
20.00 - 20.45: Distance/pace session
Location: Firestone Arch, Royal William Yard, Plymouth
Age: 12 years +
We will be running 2 sessions every Wednesday evening from our base at the Royal William Yard. Each session will be led by a qualified Open Water swim coach with safety cover provided by a qualified beach lifeguard. Ace swimming sessions are risk assessed and insured.
This session is designed for those swimmers looking to develop their confidence with sea swimming or adapt their technique from the pool to the sea. This group will specifically be targeted towards charity event swimmers with a view to helping them develop to complete their event(s). The aim is that this group will cover 600m to 1500m per session.
This session is designed for the advanced swimmer. This session will be designed as an open water swimming training session. We will cover a variety of different race skills and either a distance swim or pace work swim each week. The aim is that this group will cover a minimum of 1500m each week. To join this session swimmers should be a competitive swimmer or triathlete. Sessions will be differentiated as required.
Wetsuits are compulsory for the distance/pace session and preferred for the confidence/technique session. If you wish to attend this session and swim without a wetsuit, a discussion will need to happen before booking.
To access these sessions swimmers must be able to swim 400m continuously.
Both sessions will have a restricted number of spaces, booking is required. Consent information and payment is also required prior to the session.
